From chain smoking, chronically unhappy cubicle zombie to barefoot yogi, tropical nomad and laptop badass.
Over a decade ago I was a college dropout with big, idealist dreams but no platform to express them. I smoked a pack of cigarettes a day and survived off of gallons of coffee and cheap wine. Chronically unhappy and existentially defeated, I spent my early twenties waitressing in a pub, getting drunk with customers and sleeping with the bartenders.
How I Became a Healthy, Happy Human
At age 24, I got sober, started doing things that healthy people do– like running and training– and went from a food regimen of Hot Pockets and Diet Coke to mostly plant-based. I landed a series of “dream jobs” and tried ridiculously hard to confine myself to a box (or cubicle), only to find that I’m a goddamn amoeba.
I remember the day I walked into my office for the last time. I had just gotten back from a month of yoga teacher training. As I packed up my desk and said my goodbyes, I felt alive and liberated. Unshackled from the idea that I had to zombie-stumble through life, I gave myself permission to start living by my own set of rules.
G’bye, Conventional Life
So, I flipped the middle finger to my old life and never looked back. Less than a month later I started an online business and have been living the laptop life in tropical paradise ever since. I traded cubicles for hammocks, and heels for bare feet. On my 30th birthday, I left comfort behind and moved to Central America for a year, something I had envisioned doing for a decade.
After 12 months of island hopping on tiny boats, picking mangoes from trees and basking in jungle bliss, I reemerged into society with fierce confidence, a firm grasp on my priorities and clearer than ever on my goals and higher purpose. Feeling radically aligned and stoked to build a foundation for what came next, I returned grateful, happy and whole.
My dare for you…
I’m here to triple dare you to be happy on your own terms, ninja kick your way through conventions and take wild leaps towards your dreams. If you’re ready for outrageous vulnerability, explosive positivity and courageous conversations, you’re sure as heck in the right place.
Hugs and high fives,
Kalyn
